In 2025, Great City Mississippi Foundation hosted the Parks & Trails Forum at the Mississippi Children’s Museum in LeFleur’s Bluff to convene local leadership, nonprofit organizations, and out of state expertise to discuss the future of public space planning in Jackson, Mississippi. Special guest speakers included representatives from Bentonville, Arkansas sharing the positive economic impact of becoming a cycling destination for bike enthusiasts.
Presenters included leaders from the LeFleur’s Bluff Conservancy, WBA Architecture, 2C Mississippi, Jackson Heart Foundation, Jackson Association of Neighborhoods, Mississippi Department of Archives and History, and Friends of the Mississippi River Basin Model.
The event highlighted the master plan for LeFleur’s Bluff State Park and the LeFleur Museum District, showcasing a new state of the art STEM center, the Lakeland Drive Pedestrian Bridge, and other planned improvements that will enhance visitor access and educational opportunities.
