Museum Trail Expansion
Recently passed legislation has allocated $250,000 for the continuation of the Museum Trail further into Downtown Jackson. The success of the trail is backed by state leaders that continue to support projects like Museum Trail and other projects enhancing quality of life and providing positive economic impact in the capital city.
The Museum Trail was also the 2023 Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods Grant Awardee for Connecting the Museum Trail through Downtown and West Jackson, receiving a total of $588,000 to support and fund planning the 2.5 mile expansion of the trail through downtown, terminating at the Jackson State University Campus.
The trail expansion will help to connect all eight of Jackson’s major museums including the Old Capital Museum, Mississippi Museum of Art, Two Mississippi Museums, etc etc. The downtown portion of the trail will follow the old rail line.
Connecting to a downtown commercial and entertainment district, bringing trail-goers to Hal & Mal’s and Martin’s Downtown.
